Amapi محیطی مبتنی بر NURBS را برای درک و ایجاد مدل های 3D در اختیار مدل سازان سه بعدی و طراحان محصولات قرار می دهد. این نرم افزار بسیار انعطاف پذیر و سریع است و ابزار طراحی پیشرفته ای را برای طراحان محصول، معماران و طراحان حرفه ای 3D جهت ایجاد مدل های با کیفیت و گرد آوری مدل های پیچیده فراهم کرده است. مدل سازی در این برنامه بر پایه NURBS است که به طراحان امکان ساخت و ویرایش مدل ها و حجم های پیچیده صنعتی را در محیط کاربری منحصر به فرد می دهد. کاوش لایه ها در طرح هایی که از چندین لایه ساخته شده اند و یا بر اساس اولویت طراحی نیز از دیگر امکانات این نرم افزار قدرتمند است. همچنین از فرمت های متعددی از جمله IGES ،SAT ،STEP ،openNURBS ،VDAFS ،STL و DWG پشتیبانی کرده و قابلیت برقراری ارتباط یکپارچه با سایر سیستم های 2D و 3D را برای ادغام فرآیند تولید دارد. کاربر قادر به تبدیل مدل های چند ضلعی به مدل های NURBS برای مهندسی معکوس مدل های سه بعدی اسکن شده می باشد.
