از آن جایی که برای ساخت مدل های مختلف قابل استفاده در نرم افزار های مدلسازی، سه بعدی سازی و گیم انجین ها (game engine) به متریال نیاز است و برای ایجاد شیدر های حرفه ای در ابتدا باید مپ های مناسب را در اختیار داشت، کاربران این حوزه به ابزار هایی نیاز دارند تا مپ ها و تکسچرهای مورد نیازشان را از تصاویر ایجاد کنند.در واقع ورودی این نرم افزار یک تصویر Bitmap است و خروجی آن همان مپ های مورد نیاز کاربر هستند که می بایست آن ها را به متریال موردنظر اختصاص داد.
