سالهاست رایانه برای تحلیل و شبیهسازی مدارهای الکترونیکی به کمک مهندسین برق و الکترونیک آمده است. ابتدا شرکت MicroSim نرمافزار PSpice را طراحی و توسعه داد، این شرکت توسط شرکت OrCAD خریداری شد و نهایتا این شرکت نیز با شرکت Cadence ادغام و اکنون توسط این شرکت پشتیبانی میشود.
Spice یک شبیهساز مدارهای الکترونیکی آنالوگ و مد ترکیبی میباشد که جهت بازبینی طراحی مدارهای الکترونیکی و پیشبینی رفتار آنها طراحی شده است. به همین دلیل این نرمافزار در طراحی و تحلیل مدارات مجتمع بسیار مورد استفاده قرار میگیرد.
Spice میتواند چندین نوع تحلیل را انجام دهد:
- تحلیل DC غیرخطی
- تحلیل AC خطی
- آنالیز فوریه
- تحلیل پاسخ گذرا
- تحلیل نویز
- تحلیل پارامتری
- مشاهده شکل موج ولتاژ و جریان در گره ها و شاخه های مختلف

Cadence PSpice A/D is the de-facto industry-standard Spice-based simulator for system design. It simulates complex mixed-signal designs containing both analog and digital parts, and it supports a wide range of simulation models such as IGBTs, pulse width modulators, DACs, and ADCs. Its built-in mathematical functions and behavioral modeling techniques enable fast and accurate simulation of designs with efficient debugging. PSpice A/D also allows users to design and generate simulation models for transformers and DC inductors.
