زمانی که شرکت عظیمی مانند The Foundry محصولی را معرفی می کند، نتیجه درخواست ها و نیازهای شرکت های بزرگ فیلم سازی می باشد. HIERO نیز دقیقا مانند نرم افزار Katana، نتیجه ای از نیاز شرکت های ساخت فیلم و جلوه های ویژه در پروژه های بزرگ می باشد که در انتها به تولید محصولی به نام HIERO رسیده است. HIERO منحصراً برای کاربرانی طراحی شده است که درگیر پروژه های فیلم سازی، تیزر، انیمیشن و ... هستند و در شرکت هایی فعالیت می کنند که با انبوهی از شات ها و قطعات ویدیوی سرو کار دارند. HIERO عملاً هیچ کاری جز مدیریت Shot ها انجام نمی دهد. با HIERO نمی توانید ترکیب کنید، نمی توانید ویرایش کنید، تغییر رنگ دهید و هیچ گونه فعالیتی بروی Shot ها انجام دهید جز مدیریت و مدیریت. شرکت های بزرگ فیلم سازی همیشه با مشکلات مدیریت Shot ها درگیر بوده اند و هر چه بر حجم و تعداد پروژه ها افزوده می شود، مدیریت Shot ها نیز دشوارتر خواهد شد. Familiar multi-track timeline
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER can playback and review sequences containing a mixture of video and audio tracks at variable speeds on a familiar multi-track editorial timeline. Artists can also create and edit new sequences using the move, trim, slip, slide, roll and razor timeline editing tools.

NUKE consistent file format support
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER share image and audio reading functionality with NUKE and HIERO so all applications can read the same formats in the same way. Formats include: R3D, ARRIRAW, EXR, MOV and DPX.

OCIO colour management
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER include OpenColorIO, the open source colour management library backed by Sony Pictures Imageworks, which is consistent across all The Foundry’s products to standardise colour space conversions.

Audio import and playback
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER lets artists easily import WAV files for preview and for addition to existing timelines, giving context to shot review.

Extensive review toolkit
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER give artists the core viewer functionality needed for comparing clips, sequences, tracks and versions in the A/B viewer, with stack, horizontal and vertical views, blending modes, colour sample tools, split wipe tool, gamma and gain sliders, and multi-channel support.

Real time image scopes
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER includes a histogram, waveform and vectorscope that let artists analyse the image information in each shot in detail whilst playing back in context.

Media localisation caching
HIEROPLAYER can optionally copy remote footage to the artists local drive to ensure improved playback when working in environments where multiple NUKE artists access data over a shared network.

In-viewer jog and shuttle controls
HIERO & HIEROPLAYER give fast and intuitive control of frame shuttling directly in the viewer through the mouse for precision playback and review.

SDI broadcast monitor support
Accurately check colour space and aspect ratios on broadcast content during review on compatible Blackmagic and AJA SDI-Out Hardware.

HIERO and HIEROPLAYER have a familiar editorial layout that gives editors the ability to insert and overwrite clips from the source view directly into the timeline through the use of standard 3-point editing techniques.

Editorial keyboard interface
HIERO and HIEROPLAYER offer in-depth precision clip or edit selection and nudging, playhead shuttling from timecode and extended JKL, to give advanced control straight from the keyboard.
Conform

Import EDL and FCP XML
HIERO conforms EDLs and XMLs into a multi-resolution, multi-track timeline, including audio. These tools help take the pain out of the conform process, alongside standard editing features.

Session-wide spreadsheet view
HIERO makes life easy with its sophisticated, session-wide spreadsheet view which can be called upon at any time and gives a side-by-side comparison of the timeline against an offline and extensive metadata for inspection at any point in the conform process.

Shot management & export
Export sequences, timeline shot structures, clip hierarchies, & EDL/XMLs
HIERO makes sending shots to VFX simple; bake-out EDLs or XMLs plus media selects (with handles) from the timeline, or simply bake out the entire timeline as a single clip in the required delivery format.

Transcode, copy or soft link material
HIERO lets artists force transcode media during the export process by creating a simple copy of it or by creating quick and light symbolic links back to the original files to save export time and disk space.

Create templated NUKE scripts
